Making a Better Battery, Episode 3 – Cuberg
Enabling the next wave of electrification beyond passenger vehicles.
“Our mission at Cuberg is really to drive deeper decarbonization of the transportation sector. Existing lithium ion batteries are pretty decent for passenger cars, but they really are way too heavy when you’re talking about electrifying aviation, long-haul freight trucking, or maritime transportation. We want to be the pioneers that enable electric aviation to fully realize its potential by leveraging our advanced battery technology.” Richard Wang, CEO Cuberg
For the final installment of our battery chemistry innovation mini documentary series we are featuring Cuberg, who’s NextGen batteries are able to provide 70% more energy per weight or volume compared to current lithium-ion batteries on the market.
Cuberg is focused on developing an extremely high performance and safe battery. These are the two critical requirements, particularly for electric aviation, where both the needs for energy density and power, as well as extremely high levels of safety and reliability are critical for this industry to electrify properly.
Cuberg received the CalSEED Concept award, and was acquired by Swedish battery developer, NorthVolt. To learn more about their technology visit their website: https://cuberg.net/
